A very basic machine capable of only extruding plastic filament material through a heated nozzle onto a flat surface (aka “fused deposition mode”). However, for under $400 per person we managed to produce a fully functional prototype house. The second challenge was figuring out what software to use to design our model home. We settled on AutoCAD as our tool because it’s free and easy to get working with. It also has extensive documentation online so there isn’t too much trial & error involved when starting out.
