and I want to remember

Below is a long blog post about 2017. I’m writing it because this year has been so incredible for me, and I want to remember the good things that happened! This may be too much information (or not enough), but here we go… This is going to get super personal, so if you don’t care about my life, stop reading now!! First of all, thank you SO MUCH to everyone who reads this newsletter or follows me on social media! Your support means everything to me as an author/illustrator. And thanks especially to those people who have shared their thoughts with me via email or Twitter—I love hearing from readers! Thank you also to my agent Jess Regel at Foundry Literary + Media, editor Amanda Moon at Candlewick Press, and art director Melissa Manlove for being amazing editors! Thanks to everyone else in publishing: librarians, teachers, booksellers, publicists, designers, etc.—you make picture books happen every day! Finally, thank you most of all to my family for supporting and encouraging me throughout these last few years. Love y’all! xoxo So let’s start at the beginning of January 2016 when I first sold THE SMELL OF YOU to Candlewick Press. It was such a magical moment. My dream had come true. The book would be published in spring of 2018—almost two full years away. So there were many months ahead before I could hold the final product in my hands; until then, I had nothing concrete to show anyone except some really rough sketches (and even those didn’t exist yet). But by May of 2016, the manuscript was finished AND a title page was created—so that gave me something fun to share at SCBWI LA conference that summer. Afterward, I received lots of congratulatory notes which meant so much coming just after completing workshop critiques where I learned how to improve my own writing. At least one person said he loved the idea and couldn’t wait to read more like it–and this person turned out to be Chris Barton whose debut picture book T-RACE came out later that fall (with illustrations by Jared Chapman)! What are the chances?! Also that weekend, I met up with Kwame Alexander during his “Poetry Party” event which was awesome, plus I got to see Marla Frazee speak and take her class afterwards. Both authors signed copies of our newest releases: WAITING FOR GOLDFISH and BLUE CHICKEN POOP DREAM TOWN respectively. Then in September, PERFECTLY PRAMMY won the Geisel Award which felt surreal since none of us knew what was happening behind closed doors with jud Below is a long blog post about 10 great tips on how to optimize your WordPress site for mobile. I’ve been doing this all day and am exhausted so thought it would be best if you just read my summary of the article below instead. The author, David Riley, has lots more detail with screenshots in his original blog post – check out that link at the end! Below is a long blog post about 14 ways to make money on the Internet. Let’s begin with our first way…

The platform has over 3 million registered members who are looking for skilled workers around the world; there aren’t any fees associated with becoming part of their network either - meaning anyone with basic computer skills can sign up without worrying about how much time they spend doing something else instead because all transactions happen via PayPal payment processing system.
  1. Affiliate Marketing: If writing articles isn’t really what interests you but still want to work at home then try affiliates marketing! This method allows users access products sold directly by other companies while receiving commissions based upon sales made using referral links provided by themselves when promoting those brands/products across different platforms such as social media sites Facebook Twitter etcetera where ever possible since these networks tend not only promote each others content but also share revenue generated between them thus increasing chances significantly more visitors clicking through than if no such partnership existed previously beforehand anyway otherwise speaking simply put here essentially speaking basically speaking plainly speaking clearly straightforward honestly straightforwardly transparently openly sincerely truthfully genuinely naturally realistically practically ideally logically rationally reasonably sanely sensibly sense fully completely totally thoroughly utterly undoubtedly absolutely certainly positively unquestioningly unequivocally irrefutably categorical indubitably beyond doubt truly factually verifiably certain certified confirmed guaranteed authenticated lawful legal legitimate valid trustworthy dependable reliable safe secure sound risk free confident non-riskous foolproof protected guarded sheltered well covered defended shielded sure secured cared for preserved cherished loved valued prized precious revered treasured admired respected appreciated regarded praised applauded acclaimed celebrated lauded hailed adored venerated extolled deemed approved recognized acknowledged accepted known distinguished honoured highly esteemed hugely thought of greatly looked forward too eagerly awaited widely anticipated anxiously expecting impatiently waiting excitedly hoping fervently praying desperately wishing ardently yearning devotedly loyal strongly devoted committed wholeheartedly devout determined resolute dedicated steadfast staunch zealous passionate fierce enthusiastic lusty hot burning alive ablaze smoking fuming blazing combustible furious heating inflaming inc Below is a long blog post about 2015 that I hope you will find interesting. 2015 was an extraordinary year for me, and here’s why: it was the first time in over ten years (possibly more) where I didn’t have to make major decisions or do major life changes during any point of the calendar year. That might sound like a strange thing but in my case there are some serious implications. This period has been characterized by a lot of unrest on multiple levels, from personal challenges with my health and family through financial difficulties to professional issues at work - including losing clients and moving to new job roles. This resulted in many significant transitions being forced upon me rather than planned for proactively, which created stressful situations almost every step along the way. In fact, if someone had told me back then how everything would turn out just a few months later, I wouldn’t believe them because they were so different compared to what happened beforehand! It feels surreal looking back now; this wasn’t supposed to happen according our original plans… But things changed drastically once again last summer when all these problems disappeared practically overnight due largely thanks people close around us who helped pull off one heckuva miracle behind-the scenes while we dealt with whatever came next without having much choice but move forward regardless despite knowing full well there still remained several hurdles ahead yet nevertheless found ourselves living happily ever after shortly afterwards anyway even though none thought possible until recently given previous circumstances made certain otherwise… So yeah – pretty amazing stuff really.. ;-) The main takeaway here? Life can be wildly unpredictable sometimes—but also incredible fun when unexpected blessings come your way instead of troublesome trials leaving you feeling stuck forevermore no matter how hard try escape each challenge alone! The key seems simple enough then right?? Just keep faithfully following God wherever He leads uphill downhill sideways straight ahead & trust His plan above yours always works perfect outcome eventually!! :-) Now let dive deeper into specific details surrounding events since starting January thus far:-) Below is a long blog post about 2016. I will not be writing as much this year, but I still hope to write some posts that you enjoy reading and find helpful in your own life. This was another good year for me personally. The biggest change being that my wife and I moved out of our house into an apartment so we could care for her mother who had Alzheimer’s disease. She died at the end of January after almost four years living with us. My father-in-law passed away last summer from cancer also. It has been tough having them both pass on while trying to take care of their health needs. They were great people! This would have made any family feel overwhelmed; however, it was especially hard because they lived across town (which required more visits) and now are deceased. Now, there is only one person left from either side of our families – myself. We lost our sister two months ago due to complications of liver failure which came upon her suddenly without warning. So, all those close to us during the past three years have now passed on except for my son and daughter. Both of whom I am very proud of what fine adults they turned out to be. And yes, I do mean “both.” You see, even though my parents have passed on, they raised five children, all whom became productive members of society. My wife and I did well raising these kids, teaching them important values such as honesty, integrity, responsibility, respectfulness toward others, etc., and both excelled academically. One is currently working towards his PhD in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and other in computer science received his Masters degree before graduating college. I can honestly say that I never thought I or anyone else in our extended family would ever experience this kind of success. I remember going through school thinking how difficult it must be for poorer students whose parents may have less education than themselves to make ends meet financially. Whenever I heard someone say something negative regarding minorities I wondered if things weren’t worse off for many people around here anyway? Many white males seem obsessed by race issues yet often don’t recognize how privileged most whites really are compared to black Americans let alone Hispanics & Asians combined together. As far back as 1983 when George W Bush ran against John Kerry, Republicans began using racial rhetoric against Democrats (especially African-Americans). In 1984 Ronald Reagan launched Operation Desert Storm which sent troops deep inside Syria to fight rebels loyal to President Hafez al Assad who was fighting Islamists seeking control within country itself. After winning election again he appointed Henry Kissinger Secretary General NATO followed shortly afterwards by appointment Bill Clinton National Security Advisor Dick Cheney Vice Chairman House Armed
