Below is a long blog post about 10 of my favorite things, or more specifically in this case, 9 items I own and love that have been bought from the Etsy shop Dear Mint. I am not being compensated by them for writing this; it’s just something fun to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon! I’m posting it because, after reading the news for several days and weeks this year, I feel like we have been living in an alternate universe from January through June. The world has changed significantly with the Presidential election of Donald Trump. We’ve had so many things happen that seem unbelievable — including people coming together to protest, marching peacefully on Washington DC streets (and other cities) all over America. It seems as if our country has never felt more divided or more at odds than what we are experiencing now. And yet…the sun still rises every morning, children go off to school each day, and families continue life in their communities. I don’t know how you view things right now but I’ll share my perspective here. Let me start by saying: This isn’t your typical political blog. If there were ever any question whether politics should be shared on Facebook pages, this definitely demonstrates why they shouldn’t. So please note that before commenting. With that said, let’s begin! Here goes nothing. . . In December, shortly after the election results came out, I posted something called “The Power of One.” In summary, I wrote a few sentences about how one person can change history; that even though you might not think you could make much difference in anything, just maybe someone else needed exactly what YOU would do – which was to vote. You see? Sometimes, it really does take only ONE PERSON to make a significant impact in a situation such as what happened during these past presidential elections. That statement may sound cliché to some but when you look back, who knows who did what to actually get you where you are today. Someone made the decision once upon a time to cross the street instead of walking into traffic. Another person decided to buy gasoline rather than letting his car sit idle while he waited for others to come around and help him push it up hill again. Still another individual chose NOT TO SMOKE A CIGARETTE THAT DAY and saved himself years of suffering later on down the road due to lung cancer. Whatever choices those three individuals made led them to where they currently stand in life right now. They didn’t realize then perhaps, but somewhere along the line – SOMEONE MADE AN INFLUENCE UPON THEIR DECISIONS AND HELPED BRING US CLOSER TOWARDS REACHING OUR GOALS/DREAMSETS OR BETTERMENT OF LIFE FOR ALL MANKIND. While I understand not everyone voted, especially since certain states don’t allow early voting periods anymore, nor absentee ballots unless requested ahead of time, etc., etc. But regardless WHATEVER choice(s), big or small, YOU Below is a long blog post about 12 different types of businesses that could use a social media strategy.
