Below is a long blog post about 4G. The main theme of the article concerns how to get from 3G (i.e., HSPA) to LTE, and the effect on battery life if you are running an Android phone or tablet with a mobile data connection. To be honest I don’t really understand all that much what this author has written – but I did find it interesting! So for those who have been wondering why they can not connect their phones to the Internet when travelling abroad…..and also want to know more about the differences between 2G, 3G and 4G …then read below!! Below is a long blog post about 2016. In the post I describe what went wrong and also outline some of my plans for 2017, as well as share some reflections on the year that was – which had many upsides too! I’m happy to say that in spite of being busy with work things (and other stuff), this year I have managed to complete quite a lot of reading and writing projects: two books were written from scratch; one book was edited extensively (both by me); another three are finished manuscripts awaiting editing or proof-reading; there were four articles published at Inside Story (plus two that never saw print). At least five more articles are half done. And still there will be time enough left over for another dozen posts here and maybe even an occasional tweet… But first let us get through these lists: The books that came out My first novel, The Endarkenment, was finally released after much delay due to editorial issues. This happened just before Christmas but it was worth waiting for because, having been reworked again since its initial publication back in 2015, it turned into something better than I expected. As far as self-publishing goes you can check out how we did it on our website. There has already been good press coverage including reviews/interviews in Aeon magazine, Crikey!, SBS, ABC local radio and elsewhere. It seems likely that the second edition may become eligible for awards next year so if any judges happen upon this list please do consider giving the book your vote. You can purchase copies via Booktopia Australia or Amazon US & UK . If you read the book online go ahead and leave feedback here , where there is now also discussion underway regarding sequels etc. Meanwhile you could buy yourself a signed copy direct from the author if you live within reachable distance of Canberra. A collection of essays titled ‘What is Left?‘ was put together earlier this month following months of frustrating delays caused partly by health problems involving friends and family. But finally everything is available both electronically and hardcopy via CreateSpace, although sales seem slow at present and they don’t really know why despite all their marketing efforts. Nevertheless I am very pleased to see the thing completed, though probably not everyone else involved would agree given the sheer number of mistakes made during various stages of production plus the fact that most contributors remain unsatisfied with results. But hey … at least people can download a free sample chapter should they wish to take a look inside. Just click either link above to access. On reflection perhaps the biggest achievement was simply getting all those authors to contribute in the first place when I kept asking them to add new chapters or edit existing ones while facing constant deadline pressure myself along the way. So thanks to everyone who pitched in with ideas, research Below is a long blog post about 2016, and if you’re not into reading, here are the highlights: I moved to London in November. I started my PhD at University College London (UCL) If your name seems to pop regularly to the police report column for drug dealer charges there will more probability to land on you for charges of druganbu in Australia but one of most common criminal law offencies of this country especially after making several charges as drugs. My first book ‘Beyond The Valley‘ came out last year with HarperCollins India in September after two years in production hell (!). It sold pretty well but unfortunately didn’t get as much attention from readers or critics alike as I would have liked. That said, I was really happy when HarperCollins decided to go ahead with another print run for BTV earlier this month – thanks everyone who supported the launch by buying copies! You can buy Beyond The Valley here… https://www.harpercollinsindia.com/book-detail/beyond-the-valley/shubhangi-swarup/9789351363828/ The film adaptation of the novel has been going through some ups and downs since we completed principal photography almost exactly one year ago. However things seem to be moving along again finally which is very exciting news indeed. Once I know more details I promise I will keep you updated!! Stay tuned… On Valentine’s Day, the trailer for the upcoming movie ‘Tumhari Sulu’ dropped online and guess what? My short story ‘Being Sridevi’ had made its way onto the big screen too alongside such luminaries as Ruskin Bond, Rohinton Mistry & Vikram Chandra among others!!! Check out the trailer right here and let me know how you feel about seeing your name credited onscreen ;) https://youtu.be/_eYqJkEaFQg Sigh.. that’s about it folks. More to come soon, including updates on the second book and other interesting stuff happening behind the scenes :) Below is a long blog post about 10 things you need to know before moving into your first house. I’m hoping that this will be helpful for anyone thinking of buying their own home and also those who are trying to get mortgage-ready in the UK. I moved out at age 23, having lived with my parents since graduating from university aged 19, so it was pretty daunting! And now here we all sit typing on our computers…who would have thought? The below information comes mainly as advice based upon what I learnt when moving into my own place (and some help from Mum & Dad too!) but other people may find different things useful – every situation varies! But hopefully there’s something which can apply to everyone reading this! So without further ado, let us begin: You don’t really understand money until after you buy/rent your own property. There’ll always be bills coming through such as council tax or electricity/gas supplies; everything costs more than you think it does and you might not make enough money to cover these additional expenses; sometimes you just won’t have any spare cash left over because life happens. It’s best to learn how much money goes where early rather than later! Mortgages/deposits aren’t easy, even if they sound like a good idea. You should do lots of research online to see exactly what type of deals are available and whether they fit within your budget. It helps if someone else has done all of this already and then given you an honest opinion about what works well and why. Remember – getting a loan doesn’t mean paying back interest straight away either so be sure to read up carefully before signing anything! It takes time to build up savings accounts and save towards owning properties instead of renting them out directly yourself which means saving enough funds each month could take several years depending on various factors including income levels etcetera.” If possible try living somewhere cheaper while working full-time jobs during college days or university studies before making big decisions regarding housing options.” This way one knows better about personal finances needs down-the-line thus avoiding expensive mistakes along way!” “Renting” A House Can Be More Expensive Than “Buying”. If you want to purchase real estate investment opportunities then look no further than residential homes located near schools or shopping malls due its higher return rates compared against rental ones especially once tenants move out again.” Apartment Rents Are More Affordable Than Single Family Homes On Monthly Basis Because They Don’t Require Any Maintenance Work Or Repairs Unless Something Breaks Down After A Long Period Of Time So They Tend To Go Up Over The Years As Well Which Means Less Cost Involved For Owners Since Everyone Pays Their Below is a long blog post about 19th-century medicine and how it relates to the book. The idea of “medicalizing” disease has been around since Hippocrates, but in his time there was not much difference between medical care (in its crudest form) and spiritual or religious practices. This is because humans have always looked for explanations as to why they are sick, which often include supernatural causes such as demons or witchcraft; diseases were viewed as punishment from God, an explanation that makes sense considering the prevalence of plagues like The Black Death during this era. But even though people believed these ideas at one point in history doesn’t mean we can dismiss them completely - after all, what else would explain things happening outside our control? We don’t know everything yet so let me tell you more about some other theories out there…
