Here are 50 Things That I Learned In My First Year Of Teaching English Abroad :

1. The way students learn English should always come before what they need to know — if we focus too much on what needs to be taught instead of why our students might want/need to use certain language structures or vocabulary words, lessons will often fail no matter how hard teachers work at making their materials engaging. There isn’t anything inherently wrong with grammar & vocabulary exercises but these activities must serve some purpose beyond simply filling up space; otherwise classes feel disconnected because there wasn’t any real reason behind each activity being chosen by teacher(s).
2. Students remember more when presented with material multiple times throughout class rather than just once – repeating information helps cement concepts into memory banks which leads us back around again later down line where new skills become applicable after years worth practicing earlier ones .
3. Always check your pronunciation before speaking out loud during group discussions etc., especially since most non native speakers aren’t used seeing someone say something incorrectly until hearing themselves speak aloud. If someone makes sense through written text but sounds off spoken word, correcting this early on avoids confusion later when trying convey ideas clearly across borders. 4 ) Be aware who speaks often within small groups ,and try not talk unless absolutely necessary–otherwise those who dominate conversations won’t get enough opportunities practice speaking English well alone without worrying about interrupt others constantly ;-)”

The last few years have been very tough on me, and my mental health has not been great at times (especially in 2017). In January of this year I felt like I was struggling to keep going: I had lost interest in music; and it all just seemed pointless. My confidence was shot – even the thought of playing guitar for anyone made me want to run away screaming! So I took some time out from writing new songs or doing anything else musical-wise. It’s important that you take care of your mind as well as your body when things get hard. I didn’t need to be making any more music - so I stopped. I think the lack of self belief stemmed partly from feeling underappreciated by certain people close to me who were no longer supportive of what I do with my life. Also, having to deal with negative comments online really got to me over those couple of years… but I’m glad they did because ultimately they helped push me into finding myself again. And one thing I know now is there are many awesome people supporting me still, and will always continue to do so. To them I say thankyou!! You give me strength :) But also… if you haven’t already, please start being kinder towards yourself & others too xxx In April I started working part-time as a customer service advisor at an electric car company called UFODrive (link below) which gave me something positive to focus on every day while I recovered mentally and physically after losing both parents within months of each other early last year . This allowed me time off work without worrying whether we could afford groceries etc., allowing us freedom around holidays/days off so long as someone could cover shifts during busy periods ect..
