Presurfer I saw this on
Below is a long blog post about 1870s-era children’s literature, but first: A very cute cat and dog. (via The Presurfer) I saw this on the subway today; I wonder if it’ll still be there tomorrow? It seemed to me that people were leaving money for it all day yesterday — even though nobody was using those little paper pencils. This weekend I read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. This novel has been one of my favorite books since childhood (and as an adult, too). I reread it every few years or so because it never gets old! I think its appeal comes from several things. One is the fact that Jo March, the main character, grows up in a household where her father isn’t around much due to his service with the Union army during the Civil War. She’s also not rich; she lives modestly with her mother and sisters while she tries to make enough money writing fiction to support them financially until her father returns home at war’s end. Another reason why this book appeals to me is probably similar to how some people enjoy biographies like Lincoln’s autobiography. You see these characters grow into adulthood through their struggles against adversity—and then you get to know what happens afterward when they reach middle age or later life stages beyond youthfulness itself . There are many other reasons besides these two examples above which explain why Little Woman remains popular among readers across multiple generations over centuries now…but suffice it say here simply that LM Alcott wrote something really good back then & continues doing so ever since!! Little Men: A Story of Life At Plumfield With Josiah Allen’s Wife by Martha Finley (1869–1873): The story begins with Ralph Waldo Emerson dying alone in a remote cabin near Concord River Valley just outside Boston. He had lived out most of his days there after selling off everything except “the books he loved best.” His death leaves behind only memories among friends such as Henry David Thoreau who visited him regularly throughout their lifetimes together – including visits made prior to Emerson himself becoming famous author/poet etceteras.. His body was discovered weeks later covered entirely by snow drifts until springtime thawed away frozen ground beneath us revealing bones buried deep underneath dirt layers upon layer over time accumulated thereafter each season passed making burial impossible without massive excavation efforts undertaken lasting months perhaps even decades depending how far down roots extended within soil surface area surrounding coffin site itself… It seems we have forgotten almost everything else about our past selves save maybe names dates places events experiences encountered along way traveled toward destination reached eventually found ourselves arriving finally arrived safely safe once again after Below is a long blog post about 360 degree feedback. I’d love to hear your thoughts and questions in the comments below! Over time, we have been conducting more frequent 360s for many of our clients (a couple times per year) than most companies do. And that has allowed us to see firsthand how they can be effective — or not so much. In this article, we will cover some key things you should know before you start rolling out 360 reviews at your company. We have also done extensive research on them over the past few years including surveys with hundreds of leaders who received them as well as interviews with managers who conducted their own. That gives me confidence that my advice here is based on good data. But if there are any points where you disagree, please let us know by commenting below. Here goes… Why should organizations consider doing 360 Reports? The #1 reason was “to help identify developmental needs.” However, less popular answers included: To develop a more holistic understanding of an employee – strengths & weaknesses; behavioral style; etc. This is important because it helps determine what areas to focus on when giving constructive feedback When considering performance management processes like PIPs/coaching plans, managing poor performers, deciding on compensation adjustments, promotion readiness, etc., having 360 results provides valuable information to help make these tough calls. It increases self-awareness among employees which leads to better communication skills, stronger relationships with peers, improved leadership competency and career growth opportunities By providing insight into potential blind spots and biases held towards one another within teams through anonymous input from colleagues allows all parties involved feel comfortable communicating openly without fear of reprisals afterwards due too embarrassment felt during conversation(s). The reasons people don’t think 360s work include lack of trust between individuals being rated on each other; bias against those who aren’t liked very much but still want honest responses instead of just saying nice things about everyone else just so no one feels bad even though they might actually deserve criticism sometimes as well What makes a great 360 report experience? Some common elements include: Clear instructions and expectations regarding participation A survey that takes around ten minutes to complete once every six months or so. Anonymity throughout process with only names revealed after final scores have been calculated allowing participants to give truly honest feedback rather then trying harder than usual because someone could potentially find out later down road who gave negative review (this isn’t always possible however.) Accurate ratings on personality traits like extroversion vs introvertedness; empathy levels compared against coworker reports etcetera while ensuring confidentiality rules protect individual privacy rights at same time keeping integrity intact overall system Below is a long blog post about 3D printing. I have no idea if this stuff will actually work in the real world but it’s an interesting concept, nonetheless! The goal of this project was to design and construct a working model for a process that produces food from biomass using CO2 as its only raw material input: carbon fixation through photosynthesis. In order to do so we needed to find the best possible way to use solar energy to generate enough power while also providing a means by which water could be pumped upwards into the structure in sufficient quantity. A second component would be required to provide lighting sources inside the greenhouse itself, since there are currently insufficient sunlight hours during winter months when the system needs to run at maximum capacity. The third element necessary is some sort of computer controlled mechanism capable of moving parts around (either mechanically or electrically) within each chamber where plants grow; without these devices none can occur because they aren’t mobile themselves. Finally we wanted something visually appealing with lots going on everywhere—a lot like our first iteration back when we were just starting out making models together before all those fancy cameras came along…and then got replaced by even fancier ones later down line after many years went by unnoticed until now thanks mostly due their amazingly high resolution capabilities combined w/some really cool effects software tools available online today!!! You know what? Let me tell you how much more money I made last year than my parents did growing up- $50k+ And yes, it wasn’t easy either..but hey – look what happened here:) Now go ahead & take advantage too!! If not right away maybe next time round?? Because guess who else knows exactly same story ? We’ve been talking about building a new house for over three weeks now. We want it big enough, yet small enough to fit everything in one room–including laundry machines. It should also have plenty of storage space underneath every bedroom doorway so nothing gets lost anymore whenever someone leaves town or goes off somewhere else entirely different without telling us anything useful (like “where”). That way everyone always feels safe knowing whatever item might come looking him/her soon won’t happen again anytime soon either . I’m taking the chance to look back at it and share what worked out, as well as some things that didn’t work for me. It has been another interesting year in many ways: Work-wise, my first year with Google, which was quite good overall (and of course still better than working on Wall Street). Family wise – one more child joining us. Personal wise - getting into writing again after not doing much last years due to lacking time, but also because I wasn’t really sure where I wanted to go with this. But now there are some projects upcoming that will change all that! I had three major goals regarding work this past year: Learn new skills/tools and become more productive; take advantage of opportunities within Glass; and to build stronger connections among Googlers. Regarding these points you can read more in previous posts here on my website . All were met or exceeded in various degrees. For example, learning and being productive – most definitely exceeded expectations :) And regarding connection building between Googler… I feel like we made big steps forward compared to earlier times during my career so far. But even though I am very happy about how I did personally, when looking across the whole organization it seems that the culture hasn’t changed all too drastically yet. It might sound strange given the number of people who joined Google over those two years plus the amount of training sessions etc., but if anything it feels like the opposite happened: There is less transparency today compared to before, especially around hiring practices & benefits while other companies became way more transparent by showing their salary ranges publicly ect… So maybe 2014 could be an important year for our company from that perspective? Not just internally either - perhaps making some changes externally would help attract top talent globally too… Regarding my own personal development, I believe I accomplished everything I set out do achieve – including becoming more organized & efficient through using GTD principles combined with Asana project management software [as well as reading Getting Things Done]. The biggest challenge remained however finding enough focus to consistently apply these methods throughout each day without any distractions happening along the way such as having family members interrupt your train of thought midway through completing an item off list ;) Another thing worth mentioning: In October 2013 I wrote down every single task needed complete each week until Christmas Eve Day then took pictures documenting progress afterwards posting them online via Instagram + Twitter accounts respectively [#GTDSelfieChallenge] This helped me stay accountable myself too since others could see exactly what tasks got done versus ones left incomplete thus resulting increased motivation levels ultimately leading greater output achieved per hour spent working rather than otherwise unproductively procrastinating away valuable hours instead!. Now let talk briefly about my professional achievements this past year - starting
