Below is a long blog post about 5,000+ words and several paragraphs. I hope you find it as interesting to read as it was for me write! In June of this year, the world lost an incredible man: David Bowie (1947-2016). For many people around the globe who were inspired by his music or style he will always be “the Thin White Duke.” But in my life, he’ll forever just be Uncle Terry. It had been almost exactly one month since I received word that he was gravely ill when I got into bed at night on December 3rd. My wife and daughter were already sleeping soundly next door but as usual we didn’t make any plans to turn off our phones before getting under the covers because there are few things more frustrating than having your phone ring after midnight with no warning. In fact, that same weekend my iPhone had woken us up three times from the other side of the country while watching Netflix. The first time someone called looking for help, which turned out not really needing help. Then later they called again so we could tell them how much fun they were missing. And finally right before going to bed we got another call saying sorry if we thought it weird hearing from us twice within two days and please don’t worry about anything else happening soon either… It was just nice knowing what would happen tomorrow morning without asking anyone directly; although maybe now isn’t such bad timing anyway? My thoughts immediately went back six months earlier though where instead of being told good news like last Friday afternoon (which ended happily enough), these past weeks have felt like some sort terrible premonition waiting to come true—even though none ever did arrive yet despite all those calls throughout November trying desperately hard until Christmas Eve came along unexpectedly knocked down doors everywhere forcing everyone inside into silence except for whatever little voice kept whispering something strange over everything including myself sitting here thinking ‘maybe somethings better left unsaid.’ At least until today… This morning I realized why I couldn’t stop crying yesterday even hours later upon returning home late evening once again exhausted tired beyond belief feeling drained dry emotionally mentally physically unable function properly doing nothing productive helpful useful valuable worthwhile purposeful meaningful fulfilling inspirational uplifting motivation encouragement support confidence courage strength power wisdom knowledge insight understanding awareness enlightenment bliss happiness joy peace serenity tranquility calm relaxation rest recuperate rejuvenated renewed refreshed invigorated energized vital alive vibrant dynamic lively vigorous enthusiastic passionate zestful ecstatic exuberant jubilant elated delighted thrilled happy content satisfied gratified joyous glad grateful thankful appreciative pleased cheerful merry festive celebratory commemorative rememb Below is a long blog post about 10 ways to prevent heart disease. I’ve been diagnosed with high blood pressure and I am going through the process of learning how to lower it naturally, without medication. (I will share this information in future posts). One thing that has really helped me is knowing what foods are good If your name seems to pop regularly to the police report column for drug dealer charges there will more probability to land on you for charges of druganbu in Australia but one of most common criminal law offencies of this country especially after making several charges as drugs. A diet loaded with animal protein causes your liver to produce excessive amounts of LDL cholesterol. This increases fat deposits throughout the arteries leading to plaque build up and hardening of the vessels. As well as being detrimental to your cardiovascular health these fats also lead to an increase in insulin levels which leads to weight gain. Saturated Fat – found primarily in meat products such as beef, pork and lamb; butter, cheese cream etc… Saturated fatty acids contribute towards raising total serum cholesterol by promoting oxidization of “bad” low density lipoproteins or LDL-cholesterol in the blood stream. Highly saturated vegetable oils include coconut oil palm kernel oil and cocoa butter. Transfat -found mainly in processed snack foods including potato chips cookies muffins biscuits crackers baked goods margarine donuts pastries breads fried foods. Transfat raises both HDL and LDL cholesterol. It does not raise HDL like polyunsaturates do they only add more fuel to already existing fires of artery damage caused by other sources of unhealthful fat consumption. In addition transfat prevents breakdown of cell membranes and hampers immune function. Chemical Preservatives – sodium nitrite/nitrate E250 added to many prepared dishes especially cold cuts bacon ham sausage hot dogs etc.. These chemical preservative work together with sugar to form cancer causing compounds known as Nitrosamines. While research on humans remains inconclusive studies have clearly demonstrated increased incidence of bladder tumours when rats were fed large dosages over extended periods of time. There are no established safe limits for intake of either preservative so avoidance should always be considered prudent if one is concerned about their risk factors for developing chronic diseases such as cancer type II Diabetes hypertension coronary heart disease Alzheimer’s dementia Parkinson’s Disease obesity etc… Highly Processed White Flour Products– refined white flour produces elevations in trigly Below is a long blog post about 2019’s top technology trends. It covers the following: What happened in this year’s election? Why did Labour lose so badly and what does it mean for its future prospects? How can we explain Jacinda Ardern? Is she as good as her spin-doctor makes out, or are there darker forces at work here that will be exposed over time? Finally, I look back to some of my earlier posts on politics and make an argument why politics matters more than ever before - because democracy itself depends upon our participation. A very important election (with many implications) was held last weekend in New Zealand. At stake were not just who would govern NZ after nine years under John Key, but also whether Jacinda Adern could go from being the leader of the opposition with no power, to Prime Minister in charge of running one of the most powerful economies on Earth! After winning by only two seats in Parliament in October, all eyes turned towards how much ground National could claw back during their campaign. The answer seems to have been none; they lost three seats overall, while Māori Party gained four more. The result means that Labour has formed government again – albeit with less support than previously thought necessary to ensure stability into next term too. And yet despite these gains made by both parties since then–there remains considerable uncertainty around where things stand now….. Below is a long blog post about 3 things that I do, why and how. I am often asked what makes me happy or more importantly who are the people that make me smile? What are my passions in life? My answer to these questions varies from day-to-day but one thing remains consistent – I feel at home when surrounded by those who can appreciate simplicity (and an awesome playlist). When it comes to food there’s not much of it that gets past me! There aren’t many restaurants where we don’t have some sort of connection with either personally or professionally so we tend to eat out a lot which means there isn’t too much time for cooking up our own stuff anymore. The only exception being breakfast. We live on the West Coast line nowadays so getting into London has become easier than ever before meaning we always try and get down to see family as soon as possible after arriving on a Sunday morning…. So what better way to start off your weekend then with a nice big fry up right? You know you love them just like us here at Taste of Edinburgh!
