Below is a long blog post about 2017’s SXSW Film Festival. There will be spoilers for many of the films that were screened there, and also some things you might not want to read if you are trying to avoid knowing anything about upcoming movies! In Austin we had to go through security just like everyone else - they made us take off our jackets in order to get into the building where all the film festival screenings took place. As I was walking past the tables with various vendors who would give out free food samples at their booths (everyone from Chick-fil-A to Taco Bell), I saw this one table that said “Free Movie Posters” on it. Naturally, my first thought was: “Well… why wouldn’t anyone?” So when I got to the end of the line where they asked people what type of movie poster they wanted (“Comedy? Horror? Sci Fi?” etc.) I chose sci fi because, well, I watch everything, but science fiction has always been among my favorite genres. And then I waited. A few minutes later, I realized no one seemed to have picked up any of these yet so I went back over and grabbed two more! One was an alien invasion style poster, which you can see above, and another was from The Dark Tower starring Idris Elba as Roland Deschain. It looks amazing; check it out below.
