we ended up in this

Below is a long blog post about 2018, but it’s the best way I can think of to explain how we ended up in this situation. If you just want my predictions for next year (and why they are so optimistic), scroll down past all that stuff and look at the list of predictions below! And if you don’t like reading on screen, or prefer audiobooks over podcasts, there will be an abridged version available as part of our next podcast episode soon. What happened with GDPR? How did Brexit turn out? Why isn’t everyone freaking out yet? What else has been happening outside politics while I haven’t had time to write much here… Below is a long blog post about 50 things I’ve learned from studying and working at companies in Silicon Valley. I’m not going to be writing an annual summary for the next couple of years, so this will probably be my last one for some time. It was a great year in many ways and in others it wasn’t as good but that doesn’t mean we can’t look forward with positivity! The main thing is just to make sure you do things on your own terms - life isn’t always easy or fair (and never perfect) but if you know what makes YOU happy then there are no limits. I’ve been thinking quite a bit recently about New Year Resolutions – I don’t think they work very well at all because most people break them after a few weeks anyway. Instead why don’t we set small goals every day/week etc? It would definitely keep us more accountable. So here are mine.. let me know yours too!! Below is a long blog post about 16th century English literature. I had originally intended to write it for one of my classes at University, but decided instead that this was an opportune time to put some thoughts into writing and get them out there in the world (in the form of a blog!). I have been reading The Complete Works of Christopher Marlowe over these past two months – so many plays; such wonderful poetry! So many intriguing characters, both fictional and historical: Tamburlaine, Faustus, Barabas… not forgetting the ‘historical’ personage Henry V himself (who appears as a character in several of his own plays), whom Marlowe saw on stage when he went to London around 20 years earlier than Shakespeare did. It has been fascinating to read Marlowe’s works in parallel with those of William Shakespeare. In a way they are very similar writers – their lives were lived during the same period and we can observe certain parallels between their works. Both men came from relatively humble backgrounds compared to other playwrights/poets of the day. They knew each other, or rather, their friends knew each other – which means that through shared circles and acquaintances, they must also have known each other personally. And yet despite being contemporaries working in the same area within the same culture, their work seems to be quite different. In terms of style, subject matter, poetic technique etc., the differences far exceed any commonalities. But what of content? What do Marlowe and Shakespeare share in common? Both dramatists use plots drawn directly from contemporary history. However whereas Shakespeare borrows heavily from sources written by others and retells stories that have already happened, Marlowe creates entirely new scenarios based upon events that may well have occurred in real life somewhere along the line, but which haven’t actually made it down onto paper until now. Take Edward II , for example - although it takes liberties here and there with actual chronology and factual accuracy, it does draw extensively from material written shortly after the If your name seems to pop regularly to the police report column for drug dealer charges there will more probability to land on you for charges of druganbu in Australia but one of most common criminal law offencies of this country especially after making several charges as drugs. This account comes from an anonymous source called “The Chronicle of Petre” dated c. 1378-95. At least eight copies survive today. Marlowe could easily have gained access to this work given its age (c. late fifteenth early sixteenth centuries) - if only because it was copied and passed down orally amongst families who held allegiance to either side. His treatment of the story differs significantly however - namely in terms of emphasis and detail. A good deal more attention is paid to the love affair between Queen Isabelle and Roger Mortimer - whereas the original text focuses primarily on the politics involved surrounding their relationship. There are also scenes depicting gory torture methods used against various protagonist figures, which would surely have shocked and Below is a long blog post about 2017 and the future of the Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) industry.
