What an amazing year Heres
Below is a long blog post about 2013, but I hope that you will take the time to read it. What an amazing year! Here’s what we accomplished in 2013: A new book called “The Cool Factor” came out this month and has been getting great reviews online. My next book with Simon & Schuster (“Better Than Before) comes out June 9th…and my first children’s book — written by me and illustrated by Brett Helquist of Harry Potter fame—comes out July 7th; “Just Grace.” I have two movies coming out early next year. The second season of “Girls” premieres on HBO January 12th …And a movie called “This Is Where We Live,” which was filmed here last summer, opens at Sundance Film Festival in Park City Utah Jan. 18-26. I got to see it recently and it gave me all kinds of goosebumps. This movie was produced by our friends from Tumblehome Learning. It’s based on their award winning educational app for kids. And if you want your kid/niece/nephew to get into filmmaking they are currently offering scholarships so send them over there now!! http://www.tumblehomelearning.com/. If you know anyone who needs help setting up a school or library website check out Schoolwires (www.schoolwires.com). They work with thousands of schools across America. I LOVE THEM BECAUSE MY SCHOOL USES THEIR WEBSITE AND IT ROCKS!!! We launched our own line of teas through Teaology.com and sold more than one million boxes since May! That number would be higher except that my husband accidentally sent everyone a free box when he created a promo code that said FREE. He thought the code was only going to apply to people buying multiple boxes – not as a discount for individual orders. So many folks took advantage of his mistake that we had to shut down sales for three days while we fixed things (but still kept shipping everything.) Now we make sure that every order gets scanned twice before being processed just so we don’t mess anything else up. Thanks for understanding. BTW, we also sell these little pouches containing samples of four different types of tea ($4 each): https://teavana.com/gift-shop/teavana-tea-sampler-bag?utm_source=email&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=2015%2F11%2FBaby%2BCheese%2C%2BBunny&utm_content=2015%2F11%2FBaby%2BCheese% Below is a long blog post about 2016 that I wrote for my family, but it’s too good to be lost in cyberspace so here you go: In our last year of traveling the world we saw and experienced many incredible things. As with most years there were both highlights and lowlights – moments where we felt joyful or sadness; times when we questioned what was happening around us politically or socially; experiences which taught us something new. We also witnessed a lot of change within ourselves as well…but more on this later. So let me start at the beginning and tell you all the places we visited over the past twelve months. (Please note, due to privacy restrictions Facebook will not allow pictures from certain countries to be shared publicly). To kick off 2016 we spent two weeks exploring Vietnam. In Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon we stayed in an awesome Airbnb flat with a beautiful view of the city skyline across Saigon River. We walked everywhere through District One, took rickshaw taxis up to Ben Thanh Market, went to Cholon (the Chinese area) to visit Binh Tay market, did some touristy activities like going to the Cu Chi tunnels and the War Remnants Museum, hired bikes to ride along the coastal road to see the sights, had delicious food including pho at Pho Bo restaurant run by a British expat couple living near our flat, and watched as thousands upon thousands of motorcycles zoomed down every street, honking their horns constantly. After leaving HCMC we traveled north to the ancient town of Hoi An via bus, train and car before settling into another Airbnb flat. Our time there consisted mainly of wandering around its cobblestone streets, eating fantastic seafood dishes served in traditional wooden houses located directly next door to each other while listening to live music, drinking beers sitting outside those restaurants, shopping for clothing items made locally and getting massages at one of several spas offering this service throughout Old Town. Last stop during out monthlong stay was Nha Trang Beach Resort & Spa where we enjoyed swimming pools filled with warm saltwater, great seafood buffets laden with fresh fish caught just hours earlier right off shore, watching movies together under starry skies after nightfall then falling fast asleep under mosquito nets waiting impatiently until morning came! On New Year’s Eve 2015/Day 31ofour trip (yes, we celebrated NYE twice), we boarded a flight bound for Hong Kong International Airport arriving mid-morning local standard time(GMT +8). From thereweheadedtoCentralHongKongandexploredits Below is a long blog post about 2017, and I have to say that it’s the longest one yet. But if you are at all interested in my year or writing, then keep reading! I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas break – our family spent the week after with my parents and brother-in-law at their house by Lake Michigan (you can read more on Instagram). We came back home late last night from Chicago O’Hare airport where we were able to spend time beforehand with some of Steve’s extended family, which was really special for us as well since they live much closer than most of his side of the family does. And now today…it’s just me here again at my desk alone. So what am I going to do? Write this yearly wrap up post obviously! And let’s face it – how else would I get through a day like today without spending hours scrolling down social media feeds filled with perfectly curated photos of people doing something fun and exciting while I sit around feeling sorry for myself because I didn’t get invited along…right?? Yeah yeah whatever!! All kidding aside though…the holidays were pretty great overall so thankfulness definitely abounds here even amidst my own frustrations over missing out sometimes due lackluster planning skills OR simply not being asked either way :/ . Anyway enough about that lets talk books cause those always make everything better right??? So first off there wasn’t nearly enough new releases during December but luckily some awesome ones did come out including: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas; Children Of Blood & Bone by Tomi Adeyemi ; Love Her Or Lose Her by Tara Sivec which sadly isn’t eligible according to Goodreads so technically speaking its only four stars instead five lol and My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick …okay seriously tho who doesn’t love reading romance stories set among families whose lives intersect unexpectedly ?! It doesn’t hurt when said family includes two teenagers falling hard despite trying very hard NOT too haha ! Oh man ohman i wish this book existed when i needed one!!! Anyway moving onto January..well honestly there weren’t many books coming out this month except maybe some YA stuff idk im getting older i guess ill stop caring about things anymore soon hehe ..jk jks anyway next thing ya know we hit February already AND wow guys look whos birthday falls smack dab in between these months hmmm?? Thatd be MEEEE btw happy belated 34th bday wishes everyone !! As far as books go though nothing super notable happened until March rolled around so basically ive been waiting forever for April Fools Day finally arrives because thats usually when allllll kinds o good Below is a long blog post about 10 things that I learned from my first week as an entrepreneur. So, here goes…(in no particular order).
- Time doesn’t heal all wounds: It seems like when you lose something dear to your heart and soul (like a job), it takes time for the pain to subside enough where you feel comfortable starting anything new or jumping into any kind of venture without fear. It was really hard having to face rejection after almost four months of working on my business idea, but then I realized this would be just another lesson in life – one more obstacle before me. If someone isn’t hiring now because they are worried about their own future prospects at work (or whatever reason), there will always come another opportunity around some corner down roads unseen! So while waiting out those difficult times may seem tiresome sometimes—know deep inside yourself how much better off these experiences truly make us become over time!!
- You can learn from anyone who has been through what you have recently experienced: One of the most valuable assets we possess is our network; especially if you want to start up your own company/business someday soon! There might not necessarily even need to know exactly whom among them had similar stories with regard to previous employment situations either-but rather simply hearing somebody else talk enthusiastically yet honestly about his / her experience could spark some inspiration within ourselves which ends up motivating us further along toward achieving goals set forth earlier than planned originally due solely upon feeling disappointment during this period last year alone already…without fail though? Even so please do try asking questions until such point arrives where neither party feels exhausted anymore by continuously talking back & forth amongst themselves constantly throughout whole process since beginning point itself starts getting too familiar quite rapidly afterwards henceforth resulting ultimately towards mutual understanding finally found out eventually once again via sharing knowledge base shared previously mentioned topic overall sense overall perspective gained initially only makes perfect logical conclusion possible therefore making everything fit perfectly together nicely leading way forward smooth transition naturally follows suit next step following suit accordingly moving ahead logistical planning process works well both ways equally well together simultaneously creating positive outcome desired results end goal pursuit successful fulfillment objective accomplished mission statement achieved completed successfully satisfied completely happy contentedly joyful delightfully excited thrilled ecstatic grateful appreciative thankful humble respectful reverent lovingly tenderheartedly warmly affectionately adoringly cherished deeply valued highly regarded greatly admired immensely esteemed sincerely appreciated genuine appreciation felt immense value received tremendous gratitude shown abundant blessings bestowed honorable recognition given highest praise offered sincere thanks extended profound acknowledgement rendered great appreciation expressed utmost gratification received vast accolades awarded prestigious commendations recognized honorably lauded widely celebrated generously applauded publically honored Below is a long blog post about 2017. I could have kept it to five bullet points, but the year was too full of change and significance for that. My wife’s father died in early January If your name seems to pop regularly to the police report column for drug dealer charges there will more probability to land on you for charges of druganbu in Australia but one of most common criminal law offencies of this country especially after making several charges as drugs. His death has left us all sadder without him. But there are good memories from his life; he lived fully into old age doing things like traveling across Europe on motorcycles, and we will always remember him as a lovely person who cared deeply for those around him. Our lives were enriched by knowing him during these last few years. We miss you, Freddy. Thank you for everything.
